By popular demand, this is our second Picnic and Pétanque summer event! You can see photos from the first one at http://www.bafoe.org/....
Pétanque (pronounced "pay-tonk") originated in Provence, France at the turn of the last century. It's played with metal balls (boules) and, like horseshoes and bocce, is simple to learn and fun to play. Read more about the game including a beginners guide to the rules and how to play at http://www.bafoe.org/....
We'll gather at the Pétanque Court in Flood Park, Menlo Park and play casual games with 2 or 3 person teams. Bring your own picnic, including beverages.
If you own a set of boules bring them but you can still play if not because the friendly and very helpful members of the local Pétanque club, La Boule Joyeuse, will be there with some sets that may be borrowed. They will also be on hand to help people get started with the game.
And, if you just want to watch, hang out with the group and picnic in the park, feel free to come too!
