Meet other internationally-minded people with a European affinity in a convivial cross-cultural atmosphere. If you are from Europe or have a strong European connection and want to make interesting new friends, have substantial conversations, practice your language skills or just have fun, come join us! Drop in when you can and stay for as long as you want. You'll discover a friendly group where mingling is mandatory! (See Mingling Etiquette.) Newcomers are very welcome. Come on your own or with a friend. Check in at the welcome table to receive your Friends of Europe name badge.

The venue is opening early specially for us at 4:30PM. We will be meeting on the mezzanine level where there will be our own cash bar. Please note that food cannot be ordered or eaten on the mezzanine level. The event will end at 7PM to allow people to dine together afterwards if they want. Reservations are recommended if you want to eat at the venue itself. An added bonus is flamenco music starting at 7:15PM!

There is a limit on the number of people the venue can accommodate. Please RSVP YES only if you are fairly confident that you - and your guest if you are bringing one - will be able to attend. Events are usually full, so if your plans change or your guest cannot come please update your RSVP so that someone else can come instead.

The Thirsty Bear on Howard St. (between 2nd and 3rd) is well located for people coming from all parts of the Bay Area, It's two blocks from Montgomery St. BART/Muni, just round the corner from the Yerba Buena Center and Museum of Modern Art. The Caltrain station on 4th St is less than a mile away on a Muni bus route.

There is free street parking in the area though you may have to circle a block or two to find it. The closest parking is the Moscone Center Garage a couple of minutes walk away but there five other garages within a five minute walk (see http://www.moscone.com/pdf/MosconeParkingMap.pdf).

You can find detailed driving directions on the Thirsty Bear website. People coming from the South Bay can either take the 4th St exit from 101 or take 280 to 6th St and avoid the Bay Bridge traffic. East Bay people will take the Fremont St exit once over the Bridge. A number of routes are possible from the North Bay (consult Google Maps), the most pleasant probably being along Marina Blvd, Bay St and then Embarcadero to Howard St.
