Geoff was wonderful ,great organiser, and was interesting to meet people that love Europe
The Thirsty Bear on Howard St. (between 2nd and 3rd) is well located for people coming from all parts of the Bay Area, It's two blocks from Montgomery St. BART/Muni, just round the corner from the Yerba Buena Center and Museum of Modern Art. The Caltrain station on 4th St is less than a mile away on a Muni bus route.
There is free street parking in the area though you may have to circle a block or two to find it. The closest parking is the Moscone Center Garage a couple of minutes walk away but there five other garages within a five minute walk (see http://www.moscone.com/pdf/MosconeParkingMap.pdf
).
You can find detailed driving directions on the Thirsty Bear website. People coming from the South Bay can either take the 4th St exit from 101 or take 280 to 6th St and avoid the Bay Bridge traffic. East Bay people will take the Fremont St exit once over the Bridge. A number of routes are possible from the North Bay (consult Google Maps), the most pleasant probably being along Marina Blvd, Bay St and then Embarcadero to Howard St.
