EuroTaste! - European wine tasting and soirée
The special event on May 31 was great fun: a broad selection of very good value European wines to sample while surrounded by bold, colorful local art that excited both the palate and conversation. Many thanks to Tom Merle for pulling the importers together and managing the venue logistics.
One tiny snafu: the order form for the wines was incorrect and could not be handed out at the event. To rectify this, Tom has posted a form with correct pricing on the BAFOE Message Board. You can place an order by email through Tom. Just click on http://www.bafoe.org/messages/boards/thread/7010636/ for details. The prices reflect the special discounts offered us by the importers ranging from 10 to 40% off suggested retail price, plus free shipping! These discounts have been extended to all BAFOE members, not just the people who attended the tasting event.

Our next event is a European Expats Gathering on June 14 for European expats, their guests, and BAFOE regulars (the usual suspects) who would like to welcome newcomers.
Expulsion and warning of no-shows
Unfortunately, one more person had to be removed from the group after being a no-show on 4 consecutive occasions and five more people have also been warned that they are on the precipice after having 3 recent no-shows. "3 Recent No Shows!" is now displayed next to their names.
Please remember that you can change your RSVP without any problem up to 24 hours before the start of the event. (Including deleting a guest if they can no longer come.) If however you cancel your RSVP within 24 hours of the start of the event, you may be marked as a no-show if your spot is not filled. And if you just don't "show", you will definitely be marked as no-show on your Meetup attendance record! (See RSVP Guidelines and Policies)
Again, the main reason for all this is fairness to the people who follow the rules.
