Aprés-Event Dining Arrangements

Quite a few people stayed after the end of events in July to have dinner together. To help with arrangements I've created a Google Map showing some recommended restaurants within walking distance of the Pres A Vi. Click here to see the map. Feel free to let me know about other good restaurants nearby that can accommodate small groups preferably without a reservation and I will add them. The current list is:

Liverpool Lil's
Baker Street Bistro
Squat & Gobble Cafe
Yukol Place Thai Cuisine
Taste of the Himalayas
Asqew Grill Catering
Pasta Pomodoro

The next event is a European Expats Gathering on Sunday, August 9. Click here to RSVP.

BAFOE Ambassadors

With the continued growth of the Friends of Europe group there is a steady influx of new people who need some orientation at their first event. To make sure every newcomer is welcomed, oriented, briefed on event logistics and introduced to a few people to get their social mingling off the ground, I've been signing up some long-time BAFOE regulars to serve as Ambassadors. The Ambassadors will also help with check-in and badges at the Welcome Table. Look out for our new Ambassadors at the next event: they'll have the title of Ambassador on their badge and on member lists.

Picnic and Pétanque

Our inaugural "Picnic and Pétanque" event took place on Saturday, July 11. You can see photos here. People enjoyed it so much we are having another one this weekend on Sunday, August 2. See Picnic and Pétanque #2 for more details. As before, if you just want to watch, hang out with the group and picnic in the park, you are welcome to come too!

Pétanque - which originated in Provence, France at the turn of the last century - is played with metal balls (boules) and is simple to learn and fun to play. For more information about the game see Petanque at BAFOE.  “Quote: "Pétanque has everything: skill, patience, competition, psychology, comradeship and, above all, good natured fun!”"

Expulsion and warning of no-shows

The No-Show Police were on vacation in July.

Request for help with Bay Area filmmaking survey

One of our members, Arthur, is preparing a report for a group of local investors on the strengths and weaknesses of Bay Area resources for making independent feature films (à la European style). If you are a film professional or simply a film enthusiast, Arthur is very interested in getting your input. More details here
